A $10 burrito should at least look like it has been introduced to the concept of filling. One man in Roaring Creek, Cayo, says his breakfast burrito delivered the exact opposite. On a viral Facebook post, the man shares photos of what he claims was essentially a lone tortilla masquerading as a burrito. His post calls the experience a “catfish,” and doesn’t withhold the food stall’s specific location. Now the comments are roasting the burrito, the price tag and the apparent tortilla-to-filling ratio. Many are just seemingly shocked that the thing cost $10 in the first place.

Where did he buy the burrito?

Westar in Roaring Creek, Cayo is famous for its all-around convenience options. It’s a gas station, hotel, restaurant and bar all rolled into one. However, its importance came from people on the road needing a convenient pit stop. While either foreigners or locals fill up their has tanks or use the restrooms, others flock to the nearby food stalls offering a dose of home-cooked meal.

This was exactly what William was probably expecting when buying a burrito from a food stall. To be specific, a $10 burrito. He also makes sure to reveal the location of the stall. “This come from the 3rd stall next to the Venezuelan food stall by Westar, Roaring Creek CY,” he says. William then describes in the Facebook post how completely deceived he feels.

What was in his burrito?

The post’s caption says: “Got catfished with a $10 breakfast burrito only to have lone tortilla…thing look buff before I even take a bite. Watch this r-ss!!” Three photos William attaches showcase how the burrito has barely any filling at all. The burrito seems to have tricked William into thinking it was robust, since the tortilla itself was rolled inwards multiple times. In the outermost layer, some scrambled egg can be seen. In the second-most, there’s a smidgeon of beans. The rest is all tortilla. To make matters worse, William claims he also bought tacos, but it was “lone $&@&ing tortilla too.”

Users are indignant

The comment section holds quite a few indignant users. “This is not right !!!” says one user, “Thanks for telling us where not to go and support. $10 on the mainland is ridiculous for this sh-t!!”

A second one states, “Glad you Neva afraid to say the location.”

Some are simply confused about the price. “Wow. Why would you pay $10 for a burrito, ever?” questions one user. Another asks, “$10 burrito does that even exist?”

One user chimes in and claims, “That is a total waste of money and tortilla space…lol.”

Are Belizean businesses ‘scamming’ customers?

In a direct message to the Deep Scroll, William added that this isn’t the first time that something like this has happened. “This really happens a lot more often than people let on and then most of the time when you fight it, these business deny it and don’t care.” William isn’t the only person speaking out. Other Belizeans took to his comment section and shared their similar experiences.

“I would have taken it right back there and then and ask them for my change or put in the egg,” rants a user. “Why do people do these things like when you buy from the indians at the bus terminal they have the meat sticking out of the bread to make it look buff and in the middle empty bro I mean c’mon lone whap artists.”

Another user shares, “I will never understand why some business people, especially food vendors do this, do they think people will come back. I nearly blast a meat pie vendor but I just stop buying and gave her the hint.”
