A vacation in San Pedro means swapping out normal, boring vehicles for the cute, aesthetic golf carts. Everyone, from locals to tourists, uses them, with multiple companies stationed in San Pedro for choices. However, it’s all fun and games until said golf cart leaves you stranded in the middle of the road.

One group of tourists got more adventure than they bargained for when the rains turned the road into a lagoon. Stranded mid-street, they started shouting beginner Spanish pleas for help as rain kept pouring down. The locals? Sympathetic—but not exactly rushing in.

What Happened at San Pedro?

She lived to tell the tale, and now over 20,000 viewers have been reeled in and started sharing similar stories in the comments. TikTok creator @percillahjay captured less than 30 seconds of footage that looks something akin to the movie “Anaconda.” It’s three women on one golf cart, and the video is taken from the backseat’s perspective.

From the beginning, viewers get a view of water from all sides, almost comically stuck at what seems to be a crossroads. Two of the women are laughing, but the driver up front isn’t cracking any smiles. In the background, a saxophone audio can be heard, seeming to reference the viral trend. Its recent usage has gained the meaning of “something bad is about to happen,” and it fits perfectly with this video in question.

Desperate, one of the women starts shouting to some faraway, off-screen locals. In simple Spanish, she asks them for help and after a pause, and presumably hearing the local’s answer, they realize they won’t be getting any help. The driver then lifts her phone and says, “We need to call the guy,” more than likely referring to the golf cart owner. The two other women start shrieking as the rain keeps pouring down. The one taking the video says, “Man, this is saxophones all day.” The overlay text reveals its 1 a.m. and they were making their way back to the resort.

When is the Rainy Season in Belize?

Despite recent experiences, Belize’s rainy season is actually from June to November, with occasional tropical storms and seldom hurricanes. However, 2026 is proving to be quite the surprise concerning the current climate. At the end of February, Fox Weather reported on heavy rains in Belize caused by Hurricane Lisa. Even more, just six days ago, another TikTok went viral for capturing the rains and rising creek waters.

The series of photos and videos had text overlay stating: “I thought it was the dry season.” On YouTube, a channel called Mr. Weatherman uploaded a video dissecting the incoming weather news for the month of April. He claims that Belize, Guatemala, Jamaica and a few other countries will be impacted. With Central America and the Caribbean specifically, he claims that there will be “above-average rains,” meaning Belize is only seeing the beginning of what will be a rainy month.
